W<\/strong>illiam began drawing seriously at the age of 10. At age 14 he apprenticed with a master engraver for 7 years. At age 21 he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, but was unhappy with the instruction so left to navigate his own course. He later became known for his mastery of illustrative watercolors and poetry.<\/p>\n
