Then we begin gathering together our ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6782\" src=\"http:\/\/homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.homeplacefairies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Pesto-Pixie-style-12a_1600x1200.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home Place Fairies Pixie Pesto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><i><strong>I<\/strong>ngredients:<\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>4 cups packed full of fresh Basil Leaves, rinsed if needed, and stems removed.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>4-5 cloves of Fresh Garlic<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/4 cup P<\/em><i>ine Nuts<\/i><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/4 cup Sunflower Seeds<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>3\/4 &#8211; 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan Cheese<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1\/2 cup extra virgin Olive Oil<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Salt a wee bit to taste (and maybe Pepper)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Optional<em> you could apply a small squeeze of Fresh Lemon, just a tiny nip!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Many folks add a tablespoon of melted butter, I generally don&#8217;t but you can<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>D<\/strong>irections:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Combine all ingredients into a food processor or a blender. (I use a food processor) and blend on low speed, then medium, then high. <\/em><em><em>Sometimes the basil leaves bunch up in which case, turn off your machine and r<\/em>earrange the ingredients with a wooden spoon so blade will move more effectively. Blend until everything turns into a smooth paste. Presto! That&#8217;s it! You can simply smear your Pesto on crackers or toast and top with freshly harvested cherry tomato slices. I like to freeze my basil in little heart ice cube trays, or heart shaped baking sheets, or simple ice cube trays will do.
