Out of the Forest
Early in the morning as the sun begins to rise
Fairy folk leave the forest, entering gardens to work and play.
There they happily sprinkle fairy dust before fluttering off on their merry way.

The Realm of the Fairies is just a breath, whisper and step away.
Not always visible to human eyes, Home Place Fairy folk surround us in the gardens we care for and the homes which we love.
They are the so called Little People, Good Folk, Fairies or Fae.
When next you wander about your gardens look a bit more closely and you just might see a wee little Home Place Fairy enjoying the day.
Yesterday with help from the fairies I mulched the paths through the Garden of Earthly Delights with straw.
This morning as I wandered about I spied a little fairy dog slumbering beneath the Pocahontas Lilac bush.
I did not recognize this little fairy dog and did not want to disturb her. However I was rather curious to know from where she had traveled, as the sound of her breathing suggested she had flown far.
Sensing my watchfulness the little fairy dog awoke with a sigh.
She said her name was Luna and that she had flown all the way to Maine from Puerto Rico with a gentle blowing, steady wind.
In Puerto Rico she is called a Perro Hadas (Dog Fairy) .
Luna had heard other Perro Hadas had flown to Maine before her in search of new experiences and adventures, wanting to broaden their views.
Luna decided to catch the next wind and venture out into the world and see what she could see for herself, arriving at our farm here in Maine just past midnight.
Luna and I made friends quickly and I gave her a teeny tiny collar with her very own teeny tiny tag so she would forever feel welcome and part of our Home Place Fairy family at the farm.

This evening the Full Strawberry Moon will rise from the east right around sunset and peak in the south shortly after midnight.
Here in Maine and New England this moon is a signal to the Fairy Folk to prepare for the gathering of ripening fruit such as strawberries.
At twilight little Nina will be at the edge of the Enchanted Forest in a tiny clearing called a glen where she will discover a beautiful patch of wild strawberries all alight with fairy dust.
Each year as the Full June Moon rises Nina wanders and seeks out delicious wild strawberries, the first fruits of spring!
One morning in Maine a little fairy called La Rosa was out in the meadow with her fairy dog waiting for her friend Nightingale.
Suddenly a fairy horse appeared, her name was Scout, she is a friend of the wee folk as well as of Old Horse who is the guardian of the Home Place Fairies.
La Rosa and Nightingale love to run with Scout.
Did you know that Fairy Horses have the ability of selective invisibility? This means that unless they are flying these magical horses are able to make their wings invisible if they so choose. This makes it more difficult for humans to spot them.
Old Horse does not have wings, he was long ago enchanted by the fairies and though he ages, he never grows old.
Old Horse is the guardian of the Home Place Fairies as well as a companion to generations of mortal children who believe in the possibility of the Fairy Folk.
Just like Scout, Nightingale and La Rosa have the ability as all Home Place Fairies do to make their wings invisible whenever they want to.
Old Horse has alerted the fairies that mortal children are approaching and suggests they depart for the Enchanted Forest with Scout.
Humankind is not prepared to see fairy folk and flying horses running about the meadow in the light of day no matter how much they may want to believe and so the fairies and Scout must head back to the forest before the children can see them.
“Come Scout”, La Rosa whispers ,”to the Enchanted Forest we go”.
Old Horse bids the fairies good day and he heads to greet the children. As they walk through the meadow to the stable one child looks over her shoulder and catches sight of a tiny soft twinkle.
“Could it be a fairy?”, she wonders as she walks away with Old Horse and the others for a day of adventure and play.
In North America the Long Night’s Moon rose in the east around sunset on December 5th shinning bright from dusk until dawn on the 6th. Full moon happened just before sunrise December the 6th.
This is the last full moon before the winter solstice and is called Long Cold Moon or Full Cold Moon because it occurs when nights are longest and days short.
Meanwhile… way down low along the root line of a Great Oak tree the Home Place Fairies slumber snug and cozy two beside two, far below where the frost fingers glow.
During the harshest part of winter when the temperature here in Maine drops way down low the Wizard and I travel south to an enchanted island in the middle of a turquoise sea.
This island is home to herds of wild horses, they roam freely with the Hadas, unrestricted and unrestrained. Hadas is the Spanish word for Fairy and caballo means horse… Spanish is this island’s native tongue and the language most spoken there.
On this island in the middle of a turquoise sea, along with the hadas and caballos lives Lulu. She is a seamstress who designs and makes all of her clothes as well as una artista de ceramica, a ceramic artist of great sensitivity and talent.
Recently one late summer day my dogs Paco and Angel who the Wizard and I adopted from this island so far away began barking, light cheerful little barks with a different ring. I looked out into my door yard and whom did I see? Why it was Lulu of the islands surrounded by glimmering tropical Hadas along with the Home Place Fairies Fae!
Along with Lulu came other island ladies all a glimmer and a glow, how wonderful it was to see these tropical island senoritas in the northern summer light !
As we walked through the gardens, island ladies and I, my garden flowers quivered and the Home Place Fairies sighed, delighting in these ladies and their accompanying Hadas whom radiated a brilliant tropical island light.
While we ladies mingled chatting the Home Place Fairy Folk and Hadas conversed delighting in their differences. They learned that despite them they had more in common, so many things about them both that was the same.
Lulu brought a special gift, a beautiful tile which she made. She said the tile was inspired from stories of Old Horse and it was a token of affection created in her studio on this tiny little island so many miles away.
I brought the tile to the fairies for their blessing which they three times bestowed. The first blessing was in the garden beside the Guardian Angel and two quartz stones of precious rose.
A second blessing occurred inside the Alter of the Fairies deep within the enchanted woodland where fairy radiance is inspiring and all dreams flourish and grow.
The third blessing was held deep in the heart of the living garden where human children play. The place where secrets are safely shared and all wishes are bestowed.
After all these blessings were completed and the gift fairy honored , to Old Horse I brought this tile. He lowered his head in gratitude, sending heart felt thanks to Lulu and the ladies along with their Hadas companions who traveled so far from away.
We are grateful for the warmth this tile brings… it holds the sunlight of the island and will warm us during the harshest part of winter when the days become shorter, darker and cold.
As our visit came to a close, farewells were said as Paco basked in the love of his former island’s inhabitants.
All around us the Home Place Fairies danced and sang, embracing their new friends, the fine little tropical Hadas, fairy folk of an Enchanted Isle no longer seeming so distant despite being thousands of miles away.
These photos were taken at days end. The Wizard and I had walked to the top of our Blueberry hill to watch the sun set and I took these photos as the sky dramatically changed, all in less than fifteen minutes.
A glorious half rainbow formed to the north fading before us as the sun began her descent heavy and low behind the western mountains.
Rain blew in from the west passing over and above us like a long misty road of fog.
The hills were for a brief while illuminated by the fading glow of the sun.
And then just like that the sky was darkening…
As the fairy folk began to shimmer and shine.

I wanted to share this card of thanks I received from a very enthusiastic group of well mannered children who attend a dynamic preschool in a town by the sea here in Maine.
These children love fairies and for the past several years have danced and pranced in my fairy dresses which the real Home Place Fairies have enchanted with fairy dust to everyone’s delight. A big shout out of appreciation to Miss Bette, Miss Angie and Mr. Jerry whose hearts are so full of giving and whose guidance and caring have touched so many!
